wood@aldingbourne host winning students

Three girls from Bournemouth-based Avonbourne School visited wood@aldingbourne last week as their prize for winning a national competition.

Social Firms UK ran the competition as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Avonbourne’s winning idea was to create a leisure/community centre for disabled soldiers returning from conflict which the judges thought was: "…really original, timely and full of potential for turning into a Social Firm."

2008 Social Enterprise Day: film explaining what a Social Firm is

On 20 November 2008 Social Firms UK commissioned the production of a three minute film to explain what Social Firms are, entitled "Social Firms: successful businesses, empowering employment". 

2007 Social Enterprise Day: Make Your Mark rap song

In 2007 Social Enterprise Day was on 15 November. To celebrate, Social Firms UK asked social enterprise, Core Arts (www.corearts.co.uk) to produce a song to be disseminated nationally on that day. Michael Clarke and Michael Collingbine recorded the song. Its aim is to bring to the attention of young people that social enterprise can help disadvantaged people.
